How far into the pattern are you — and how long until it resolves?
Fractal Age estimates where the current structure sits in its life cycle—young, developing, mature or exhausted—and expresses possible timing in bars rather than vague clock-time predictions.
What this tool is for
Use it after you already have a directional idea and need to know whether you may be early, appropriately timed or chasing a late move. It adds a “when” layer to structural analysis; it does not replace the directional setup.
Is this move early or late?
| Phase | What it means and how to use it |

| Young / early | The current swing or cycle is still fresh, often soon after a confirmed turning point or breakout. There may be more room for the idea to develop; wait for a valid entry trigger rather than assuming it must continue. |
| Developing / mid | The move is established but not yet near its estimated completion. Manage with the existing trend while watching for loss of structure. |
| Mature / late | The move is aging and has used much of its estimated cycle length. Avoid chasing; tighten management and require stronger confirmation for fresh entries. |
| Exhausted | The current cycle is close to its estimated resolution window. Prepare for a pullback, consolidation or reversal, but wait for price confirmation before trading against the trend. |
How to read the result
| Output | What it means |

| Completion percentage | The estimated progress since the last confirmed swing point toward the current cycle's resolution. |
| Phase | Young, developing, mature or exhausted. Later phases carry more risk of chasing. |
| Bars elapsed / total | How many candles the structure has used and its estimated full length. |
| Cycle position | An early, mid or late label plus a normalized visual of the cycle shape. |
| Urgency | How soon the current structure may require attention. It describes timing pressure, not trade quality. |
| Time scenarios | Continuation, reversal and extended possibilities with direction, probability, bars to resolution and target. |
Practical workflow
- Establish direction first with structure, MTF Confluence or another analysis tool.
- Run Fractal Age on the timeframe you will use to manage the trade.
- Read phase and completion together: a mature 80% structure is different from a developing 40% structure.
- Convert “bars to resolution” into your chart timeframe—for example, 10 bars on H4 is roughly 40 trading hours.
- Use the scenarios as timing windows, then require price confirmation before entering or exiting.

Timing is approximate: completion and bar counts are model estimates. News, volatility shocks and structural breaks can shorten, extend or invalidate a cycle.
